Please make time during the 2008-2009 school year to get involved in activities that enrich your child’s school community life. There are many ways to help support our school.
"I feel that there is no more important job than working for the education of children. They are our future," said Carol Tager, who has served on the TPHS Foundation Board for the past three years and serves as the current Chairperson for the Friends of the Library committee. One of Tager's most recent contributions occurred last month when she and husband Mark hosted a
TPHS fundraising party at their home attended by Pulitzer Prize winning photographer, David Kennerly.
"Volunteering with the Foundation has given me the opportunity to gain first hand knowledge of the accomplishments and the goals of our school. I feel a part of my daughter's education. I have also met dedicated parents who have worked tirelessly to meet the many needs of our school that the District does not have the money to support" added Tager.
The Tagers' volunteerism has also set fine examples for their children. Their daughter Marissa, a Torrey Pines senior has been a tutor for younger children and is also involved in helping students at San Pasqual Academy, which is part of San Diego County's foster care system. Son James attends Duke University and recently helped raise $2,000 on campus for the "SAVE DARFUR" cause.
"The sense of belonging to Torrey Pines High School is a wonderful gift. I invite you to get involved, we need all of our parents," said Tager.

Interested in helping teachers and staff on campus? The Parent Volunteer Association's mission is to welcome parents and provide engaging opportunities to volunteer at Torrey Pines High School. The Association serves as a liaison between the parents, teachers, staff, and the community by organizing and sponsoring Back to School Night, Evening at Sammy's (Teacher Mini-Grants), collating and distribution of the parent newsletter, Teacher Appreciation Week, and other activities. Administrative Support: volunteer positions include activities like helping in the attendance office, textbook room and at the front desk as well as projects that are scheduled on an as-needed basis such as copying and collating, mailings, and much more!
Member Group/Booster Volunteers: support fundraising and provide program support for athletics, technology, visual and performing arts and science and academic areas. Boosters in each area have an opportunity to work directly with the department chair or coach to help identify the needs of the department and work on raising funds with the support of the Foundation.
Special events and fundraising volunteers help provide the funds to support all of the Foundation activities. (Contact Sue Regis in the Foundation office)
